Patricia
A Birth Story
Here is my birth story with Kathy Ramirez, our amazing Midwife.
Hmm where to start? I woke up at 3:00 a.m. needing to use the bathroom, noticed lots of mucus and slight bloody show, decided to go back to bed and ask Kathy in the morning about it. Around 4:00 a.m. I was having contractions that were low scale painful but I could feel them through my heating pad, I laid next to my husband Miguel, woke him up and told him “it hurts” as soon as the words left my mouth, I began to cry! I was worried.. not about the baby but about things like my son waking up so early and about having to call and wake my midwife so early! And that she has a dentist appointment in the morning hours to come and silly things like how messy the house was. Anyway we called Kathy and she came over. By the time my contractions were getting more intense I started worrying about the birth pool not being full enough in time get in and I had kept changing from position to position and nothing was making the contractions less intense. I had a huge urge to leaving the rocking chair I had been laboring in and get in the pool.. full or not. I climbed in and as soon as I sat down my water broke; within minutes my body started to push Patricia out on its own. I had the urge to reach down and feel what was going on, I could feel a soft gooey thing coming through 😬 i thought it was my intestines or something because it didn’t feel like her head, my amazing Midwife Kathy and husband both kept saying it was her though! After about 15 minutes and 5 surges/contractions she had floated right out of me! She immediately was placed on my chest ❤️ and her and her placenta stayed in the pool with me for about 20 minutes while she worked on opening her lungs ❤️ our Midwife had so much knowledge I had no worries about her breathing and knew she was in great hands! I loved that Patricia was on my chest the entire time for the exams. Before I had gotten in the birth pool I remember saying “I can’t do it” and Kathy kept telling me I could, I kept taking her hand to get me through it. My husband was unable to comfort me in the way she did! She is truly amazing. Anyhow all my pain was gone as soon as I seen our baby! And I was instantly in love. She was born completely healthy on week 37 at 7:00 am, January 10th weighing 9lbs 10oz and 20.5 inches! I highly recommend Kathy to everyone looking to have an amazing birth ❤️
