Core Values
As a midwife I witness the sacredness of this journey.
The pain is profound when it's not revered.
The pain is profound when it's not revered.
Philosophy of Practice |
I recognize families as the primary decision makers throughout the childbearing experience. I provide care and advice to clients prior to and during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period, and guide clients to give birth to and care for their newborn infants during the postnatal period. This includes preventative measures, protocols for variations and deviations from norm, detection of complications in the client and baby, the procurement of medical assistance when necessary and the execution of emergency measures in the absence of medical help. I respect the autonomy of clients by working in partnership with them and recognizing individual and shared responsibilities.
I uphold clients' rights to make informed choices about the manner and circumstance of wellness, pregnancy, and childbirth, and facilitate this process by providing complete, relevant, objective information in a non-authoritarian and supportive manner, while continually assessing safety considerations and risks to clients, informing them of same. |
Why choose a Certified Professional Midwife? |
"A Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) is a knowledgeable, skilled and professional independent midwifery practitioner who has met the standards for certification set by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) and is qualified to provide the Midwives Model of Care. The CPM is the only midwifery credential that requires knowledge about and experience in out-of-hospital settings." ~NARM
CPMs provide continuous care for women throughout their childbearing cycle this includes the caring for clients while trying to conceive and between pregnancies. I carry a very low client load (averaging 3 births per month) which allows for more personalized and comprehensive care than typical obstetrical practices. In partnership with my clients I carefully monitor the progress of the pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum period and recommend appropriate management if complications arise, collaborating with other healthcare providers when necessary. |
